in response to dumbo...   I have seizures and I have disability. If your Mom gets disability she will have to file for someone to help her from the disability office. There is a website for that.

I did not see anythng where is specifically says they will pay you to take care of your Mother. You do need to contact your State to see if they have some programs that can help you with getting your resources met. Also, going to a church is helpful too. I used to my utilities paid from churches. I am sorry to hear about your Moms issues. I have epilepsy and I certainly understand how difficult it can be.

I have evaluated and reevaluated and I have come to the conclusion that there is no way I can continue without some assistance once I find a place to live within my range I will be able to handle everything and though I am retired I continue to search for employment which I have not found to this day. But for now I desperately need help to pay my rent and move before July 31 or I will be living on the streets as well as my grandchildren because I have no place to stay. If there is anyone that can help please do.

Rabbit Revenue - my old Rabbitry

By Mimzy - on Apr 6, 2011... modified on Apr 6, 2011
Posted in Starrweaver

I read that some people where getting rid of a bunch of rabbits. About 4-5 of them. It's really too bad that they want to let them go. As they are really a good investment.

When I had my rabbitry - I was able to use the manure in my composting. Worms are attracted to the rabbit manure in the compost pile and it helps turn it into good garden soil faster. I often added a small worm called a red wiggler. It's more prolific than my rabbits! They double their numbers every 30 days! So I was able to have very rich soil for my garden real quick.

Straight rabbit manure and red wigglers are a magic mix that makes for great garden fertilizer. It's the preference of rose growers especially. Plus it's great for making hot beds for young plants as it's the only manure that won't burn the tender shoots. I sold lots of 5lb bags of that special fertilizer to nurseries, gardeners & rose growers.

Plus the tomato plants that I had in hot beds and then transferred into the garden later, produced larger fruit than those that weren't grown in a hot bed first. Most crops that I used the rabbit manure compost on grew extremely well.

I also collected night crawlers in our yard which I put into a mesh bottom box that held this rabbit manure compost. I made a good amount from selling them for fishing bait in a 1/2 pint.

The big breeds I had were Rex, English Spot and French Angora. The Rex has a thick lush pelt, but is a big boned breed. The English Spot is a small boned, lean looking rabbit. By breeding the two I got mostly good thick pelts, small boned rabbits with a good amount of meat.
Only issue is they don't breed true. So it has to be crossbred to get a good meat producer and a good pelt producer. It provided excellent meat for the table. Rabbit is white meat with a fine grain and is easy to digest.

The pelts when tanned properly are great for stitching together to form a quilt or muffler. It keeps heat in if combined with a soft cotton backing. Saves on heating expenses as it keeps you toasty warm. (some may not be for fur - but when it comes to my own stock I don't believe in wasting what can be used. It's more respectful to the animal & the old ways.)

Now the French Angora were good for harvesting wool from - once it's combed and carded - it's good for spinning. Many yarn crafters love to spin or work with angora. They said it was like spinning a cloud. I made a good amount from selling wool too.

The small breeds I had were Netherland Dwarf, Mini Lop, Jersey Woolies & Holland Lop. These were bred for pets, classrooms & 4H club members as well as some were show animals. I was very proud of my breeding lines. I also used to try to educate others about many things related to rabbits & raising them.

Some pet shops tried to pan off rabbits as Netherland Dwarf or other small breeds. But you could tell by the ears if it was or wasn't a small breed. Top length for a Dwarf is 2 1/2" - no bigger. Head like an rounded like an apple and adult weight of 4 lbs. tops. These are most likely culls, animals taken out from breeding due to flaws.

Anytime that you want to get an animal for a pet - a legally licensed breeder or an animal rescue shelter would be the best bet.

For show, meat, pelt or hobby animals it's always best to go to the breeder. Always be sure that they are properly licensed and associated first, before making a purchase.

So if you were wanting to make a little extra money, the investment of time & money is well worth it with rabbits. They convert lb. for lb. better than most other animals for feed to meat ratio. Plus they can be very relaxing to be around too. The small ones are very affectionate when raised socially. I found them to be a great experience the I'd love to enjoy again some day.

Hope that this information about rabbits, some use of their manure compost mix and earning some income from them is useful to someone. Thanks for reading.

This country at one time was a country of people helping people and now it is a country of greedy people that do not care about their fellow man just how much money they can get from people. I had a business that was 25 years old that I worked very hard at and was proud of. Now it is to the point that the banks have run me out of business and they are trying to take my home from me, they have destroyed my credit sore, and my income, and running me throw the courts system like I am a piece of dirty. I was not even told when the trials was, but I they do find out throw the locale newspaper that I have loose the case. I have been trying to get some finical help however no one wants to help me because that banks have made me look like I am a dead bet. I am so upset that a big organization can destroy a person and know no one in this country seems to cares about it. I was just asking for a little help so I could get back on my feet. I need Dental work it is getting to the point that I cannot eat, I need some kind of legal help to fight this unfair justest. I was just asking for help to get things going so I can be on my own again. But that is not happening in this country any more. I do not get unemployment and have not had an income for 5 months and have no family that I can count on for help. I guess the moral to this story is if you work hard and play by the rules they will destroy you, but if you cheat, lie, and steal you get rick. I would like to have some help but after a year of trying and about to lose my home in the next few month there is no help and soon I can join the homeless on the street. At the age of 61 there is not much to live for now it is over for me because people do not help people any more. The past is over and there is a new way in the country that I do not understand. I have spent all my life helping people and I guess I am getting my just reward for it.

Hi friends. Well it's been almost a year. I have Google ads all over the place on my blogs, websites, bla bla... and I haven't received any payments.

I think its more hassle then its worth. If I were actually given incentive to have advertising on my pages I might consider keeping it but to be used as free advertising? I dont like it.

Anyway call both offices and have them send you any and all the info they have on home care reembursement for the disabled. If your lucky you may even get to talk to someone that knows what you do next. You have to make out a caregivers app and I believe you have to take a 6 hour course on what to do in case of emergencys. Actually, the requirements aren't all that bad and the state saves a lot of money by keeping our loved ones in their homes and the fact that you will have to quit your job is a big plus. I wish you all the luck in the world and I think what your doing for your loved one is wonderful. If I can be of any more help let me know. sincerely sheshe030

The effects of MS vary widely from one individual to another. Symptoms for some may come and go, while others may experience a steady worsening of their disease. Each person's specific symptoms vary greatly too. For example, one may have visual problems, numbness, and fatigue, while another may experience impaired mobility, weakness, and depression.

With so many variables, the needs of the MS population are diverse. For this reason, MSAA offers five categories of programs and services aimed at providing individualized assistance to people with MS, their families, and their care partners.
Offering Lifelines

The physical symptoms of MS often have a strong emotional impact. Individuals with MS may feel uncertain about the future and frustrated over the challenges MS may present; loneliness and depression are very common as well. Encouragement and understanding are key to helping an individual get back on track, while valuable information helps to reduce fear and provide positive direction.

in response to lalost...   Reply to lalost:---I can only speak for the state I live in (Washington) but if your loved one is eligible for medicare/medicaid and or is on social security you can apply to be her caretaker. They will come to your home and make sure she has access to the bathroom and has any equipment she may need for mobility like a walker and or a wheelchair etc.You would have to be available to care for her full time or you could inquire about someone coming in for an evening or one day a week to give you a break. They will probably want you to live in the same home as that is the whole point of being a caregiver and that is to be there to help her with any and all needs she may have. They also provide transportation for her to and from her Dr appointments but you will also have to apply for that as well. To find out if this is available to you you should first establish if she is on medicare/medicaid/social security and you can call your local social security office to find out who to talk to about this. You can also call the Dept of social services and talk to them. Before you do anything you must establish what kind of coverage she has. I hope this has helped you but as I said each state may be different so you should get on the internet or phone and find out what is available where you live. Good luck sincerely sheshe030

He makes less than $ 10 an hour so even one day off hurts us badly since you all know that disability doesn't pay well. Is there any way he can recieve any compensation for being my primary caretaker ? Thank you for you reading this.

Contact a home health care agency. They would be the ones to determine if your mom needs a caregiver and, if they're willing, can pay you for doing what you were doing anyway. They know, if they're insightful, that a family member knows the patient and knows the needs of the patient and is able to satisfy those needs. It may not be full-time pay, but it's worth a shot. If you don't like the first agency, go to another one. They're all over the place. With the agency, your mom would also be assigned a social worker who can help her get disability if she's qualified as well as other services he/she can provide. A physical therapist can also be assigned to your mom if she needs it. Medicade can pay for the home health care.

You're a good person for taking care of your mom, but you need some relief too. Maybe you and another caregiver can split shifts. Good luck to you. And God bless  you.

Immediate Help

By InvisibleK - on Apr 9, 2010
Posted in InvisibleK

Thought I'd post this in case it helps anyone, it's nothing new - it's things I've seen around here on various pages, but I ran across it so thought it might help someone.

Immediate financial help is available for struggling families and those facing unexpected income loss, disability, disaster or other crisis. Most programs evaluate families to ensure that they qualify before offering assistance. In a financial downturn, more and more families look for financial help, but not all really need it. Here's how to get immediate financial help.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Evaluate your situation and compare your monthly projected income to your necessary expenses of housing, food, transportation and basic clothing. If you don't have enough to pay for these basics, you will likely qualify for immediate financial help. If there is a large amount of income going to things like credit cards, debt payments or other categories, you will need to cut spending there and work with debtors to lower your payments.

  2. Step 2

Contact your county or city human services. You can call 2-1-1 in most U.S. states to learn about immediate financial help options available to you.

  3. Step 3

Look for local branches of the Salvation Army, Catholic Charities and other national charity organizations to get immediate financial help to pay rent or mortgage, keep the lights on or buy food.

  4. Step 4

Inquire at local charities for immediate financial help. Civic organizations in your community often have funds to help those in need, but the amount will usually be very small due to smaller budgets.

  5. Step 5

Turn to churches and religious communities, especially those in wealthier areas, for immediate financial help.

  6. Step 6

Research specialized organizations and charities. They have smaller budgets but more specific goals, such as helping families of AIDS children, disabled union workers, writers association members or families of firefighters. If you fit on their category, you have a good chance of getting the immediate financial help you need.

I to wish that there was a work at home job. I want to be able to work at home and be with my kids. I have tried a lot to and it seems that when you find something it always cost you something. I just do have the extra to be able to pay out.

I also wish that I could be able to get a grant to be able to start a small business in my home town. There is nothing much her anymore I think we need something. But all start up is just so high anymore.

About Mother of 6 reaching out for Christmas help

Posted in Mother of 6 reaching out for Christmas help

HI My name is Kelley. This is one of the most difficult things I have EVER had to do. Usually My family is the one that helps others, but now I am at a loss for this years Christmas(2009)and I am reaching out for my children.  I am a mother of 6 with a 7th blessing due in March(2010).  My husband and I were both in the housing industry 3 years ago, he built them, I sold them! We were doing fine, then our bubble burst.  For months we both searched for work.....with no luck.  After 8 months my husband was able to get a job for a local thirft store, making minimum wage.  With our savings and his income we struggled to make our bills....at the end of last year we knew we had to do something. Pulling all of our resorces and borrowing from family and friends, we started our own business.  Things got even worse financialy.  We kept the faith, and kept going.  Our 6 children were GREAT, we learned that we had done a good job thus far in teaching our children.  They didn't ask or want for much(at least we never heard them say anything)! After almost a year our business is starting to do better. However, we are still struggling to repay our debt and make the bills.  There is NO EXTRA money.  I put up our Christmas tree with the kids about 2 weeks ago.  I look at it every night lit, its so pretty they really did a good job.  As I sit there thankful that God has pulled us through, I wonder how we will be able to put gifts under it!  If there is anyone who would be able to help our family this year.....I would be forever grateful! Thank you!!

    Hi,

I know it is hard right now. First, congratulations on being a someone who works hard. It would probably be easier on you to quit your job and live off the government while attending school. You are definitely a hard worker as is evident by raising two children, college, and a full time job. That is a very stressful life. However, I have been where you are and know how you feel. In my case i lived on 1200 a month while attending Virginia Tech full time and supported 3 stomachs. One thing I had was family. I had to bite the bullet and move into a very old and dilapidated trailer for 3 years in order to make it. If you have family do not be to proud to seek assistance from them. In time past this was the norm in America. You should really think outside the box on how to cut cost. I remember that I would watch the grocery adds and was sometimes able to by the staples to get through the week for 50 dollars. We ate a lot of beans and chicken drums. Very little beef as it was to expensive. In reality 1600 a month is doable. Many families make do with less. Your situation is short term. Also, you should have no problem finding a college educated career making 17 or more dollars per hour. Unless you are getting a degree in basketweaving. I left that lifestyle 10 years ago and our household income is now 136,000 per year. My first year out of college we had income of 60,000 per year. I am extremely grateful that I found a way to stay in college. No matter what tighten your belt and keep the dream of the future and the next couple of years will pass and life will get much better. Your just paying your dues right now. It is hard but nothing worthwhile is easy. STAY IN SCHOOL as it is the fastest way up. Take care.
